Finding a parking space can really be a b**ch. Going around the block while getting late for whatever it is you're getting late for or even worse, when you really got to pee.
Fortunately though the tech company INRIX has announced a new On Street Parking product at the TU Automotive Conference at Detroit using a custom fitted BMW i3 and makes use of INRIX's aggregation of real-time road traffic information from a variety of sources.
INRIX plans to add ultrasonic and LIDAR (Light Detection And Ranging) sensor data that will be able to "see" open spaces from the air and alert its systems. All this data will then be superimposed onto a map containing parking spaces, regulations, costs and previous parking behaviours, enabling the car to know where parking space use is light or heavy, and then to direct you to the nearest parking-friendly area - or even the nearest parking spot that costs under a certain amount if you don't want to pay through the nose.
Let’s see if INRIX can incorporate a feature that bargains with the parking waala as well.
