Diwali week is here and you’ve still not had the time to plan your look for the festivities? Here’s a quick guide for putting your festive look together with minimum effort.
1) Don the traditional look
You will never go wrong with a Jodhpuri
) or a kurta-churidar combo. If you go for the latter, wrap a stole casually around your neck for effect. Want something more traditional? Try the dhoti-kurta. Ethnic looking, layered, ready-made dhotis with elastic bands have flooded the market. They are no-fuss, easy to carry and will make you stand out.
2) Do the fusion
Team up a kurta (preferably knee length) with a pair of well-fitting denims and slip on a Nehru jacket
. If you can’t find a kurta handy, wear a chic shirt along with the half-jacket. Brightly coloured half-jackets look awesome with blue or black denims!

3) Groom your hair
Never make the mistake of stepping out in great clothes and hair looking like a bird’s nest. Shave
, wash your hair with a fragrant shampoo
and style it with no more than a drop of gel
. If you are a supporter of No-Shave November
like us, all the more reason to groom your hair!
4) Wash and moisturize
Don’t underestimate the power of a sparkling face and clean hands with neatly trimmed nails. With a good face wash
and some moisturizer that make your skin soft and supple, you can ditch the salon clean-up. Easy, right?

Give your work shoes a break and go for a pair of traditional jootis or Kolhapuri chappals. Add a silk pocket square, strap on a nice watch, dab on a light fragrance and you are sorted. Let the festivities roll!
